  • Searching for CDs and text

There are two (even three) ways of finding information about your Audio CDs. The first being the standard Find/Replace that you see in all kinds of text editors. The other one is a Find CD or Track that displays CDs or Tracks matching search criteria.

    Find & Replace

The standard Find/Replace dialog is shown when selecting Find from the Edit menu. Enter text you wish to search for and hit enter. iCDc will highlight the next match. When in Overview or Edit view, all tags will be searched and if found the Edit view will be displayed for that CD or Track highlighting the text searched for. When in listview mode, only the tags shown in columns will be searched.

To replace text, enter text to be replaced in the Find field and the replace string in the Replace field. Click the Find button. Click the Replace button, or Replace All button. The Replace All Scope lets you choose whether you want to replace all displayed CDs and Tracks, or just the selected CDs and Tracks.

    Find CDs and Tracks

To search for specific CDs or Tracks, open the Find CDs and Tracks dialog from the Edit menu. From the pop-up menu select if you wish to search for CDs, Tracks or Both. From the second pop-up, select if you wish use all or any queries matched. Set up your queries. In the table, the first column indicates what property should be searched, the second if the tag should e.g. contain, equal or start with the text. In the third column you enter what text you are looking for.

To add more queries, click the + button and set it up like the first one. To remove a query, select it in the list and click the - button.

    Smart Folder

You can setup smart folders the same way you search for CDs or tracks. Just click on the + button in the bottom left corner of the main window and the Find CDs or Tracks dialog will be shown. Click Save when happy with the query. A new row will be added in the Source view. You can edit the name by double clicking it. Read More
